Butterflys

It's no secret that I like to slice and dice my high-resolution fish images to create new and wonderful creatures. A few years ago this artwork received a gold award at the NZIPP Nikon Iris award for this work. The inspiration comes from seeing frames of mounted butterflies, which have always intrigued me. Each of the nine creations here are slices of fish fins. I have labelled each one in the Latin (or scientific) name of the fish species that it is derived from.
