Gurnard, with their colourful pectoral fins and sculptured head, are pretty fish and quite good eating. If you have ever caught one you may get a surprise when they start barking at you! I photographed a fish that was in great condition, having been line-caught. Shooting it from many different angles to get a mix to work with later. The best angle was from above with its pectoral fins spread out to show their beautiful patterns. Later I played with the shape and came up with Pisces.
How this image was created: The fish was photographed on a lightbox to bring out the colours in the wings, then clearcut and placed on a black background.
